Please join this very special evening
of wine, music and beautiful oil paintings available for purchase by
local artist Steve Hill.
Special appearances and performances by Dr. Vanessa Sheldon , “One of America’s most creative and dynamic young harpists” and Carolyn Martinez with her Jazz Trio “One of the best singers to grace the Los Angeles jazz scene.”
Steve Hill grew up drawing and painting at home as a child. He won a scholarship to Otis Art Institute for a summer class when in Junior High School.
After High School Steve attended California State University
Northridge, majoring in 2 Dimensional Fine Art. After college Steve set
up a painting studio in Santa Monica, California, where he explored
figurative and surrealistic art. He had one man exhibitions at the
Beyond Baroque Gallery and the Helen Drue Gallery in Venice, California
in the 1970's. Moving to the desert in the late 80's Steve turned his
attention to desert landscape painting in oils. Steve has exhibited and
won ribbons in many shows and his work is collected internationally.

In addition to the opportunity to purchase an oil painting, we are excited to have the amazing talent of harpist Dr. Vanessa Sheldon.
In 2005 Dr. Sheldon earned a Doctorate of Musical Arts in harp and musicology from the University of Arizona when she was honored as the University of Arizona's youngest doctoral graduate, and, later that year, named as the youngest college professor in the world at the College of the Desert in Palm Desert, CA. A specialist in new and non-traditional music for harp, highlights of her international tours include concerts in Shanghai, Seoul, Spain, South Africa and the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. as well as performances for a variety of notables including Oprah Winfrey, Maya Angelou, and others.
In addition, we will be graced by vocalist Carolyn Martinez: “One of the best singers to grace the Los Angeles jazz scene.” Scott Yanow, jazz critic. Carolyn Martinez has a repertoire of lively jazz standards, moving ballads and Brazilian bossa novas — sung in both Portuguese and English. Her 3-octave range yields lovely high notes and her melodic improvising is a delight.
